Q. What is Mighty Trader?

A. Mighty Trader is a premier online auction drop-off service that provides professional auction and consignment services. We use our technical background and our online selling expertise and skills to help get your item sold AND get you the most return for your item.

Q. What can be sold through Mighty Trader?

A. We accept a wide variety of items, from computers and PDAs, purses and musical instruments to clothing and home furnishings. Items must be legal to sell on eBay, be shippable by FedEx, USPS or UPS, have an eBay value of at least $35 and weigh less than 200 pounds.

Q. Will my items be safe?

A. Items will be stored in our secure staging facility and insured for their fair market value (up to $5000). Mighty Trader has processed hundreds of auctions and stands behind every sale. Mighty Trader recommends that you follow safe and secure packing procedures when packaging your item to send to us. We further recommend that you use an insured carrier to ship your item to the Mighty Trader staging facility.

Q. My item isn't on the list. Can I still sell it through Mighty Trader?

A. Please call Mighty Trader at 1.877.607.9800 to discuss your item. Mighty Trader will allow additional items not on the list at its discretion.

Q. What is the benefit to the consumer?

A. Ease and convenience are the greatest consumer benefits. Mighty Trader does all the work! We photograph the item, write ad copy, do product sales research and provide excellent customer service. eBay auctioneering can be very demanding and time consuming in order to juggle the hats of salesman, customer service department, research analyst, accountant…Mighty Trader takes the hassles out of the eBay experience and allows the consumer to experience the best eBay has to offer! Additionally, by simply dropping their item off, Mighty Trader sellers benefit from the confident bidding that comes with a stellar eBay feedback rating. We go out of our way to protect our coveted feedback rating and that requires superb customer service.

Q. How are items tracked once they are dropped off?

A. The customer is responsible for tracking from the point of delivery to the Mighty Trader receiving center. This is standard with FedEx and UPS and can be done through USPS for a nominal fee. As soon as the item's auction begins on eBay, then customers will receive an e-mail notification from Mighty Trader that their item is now a live auction on eBay. They will be provided a link to the specific eBay auction through which they can view the auction, as well as provide answers and comments through Mighty Trader's unique embedded Mighty Chat communication feature.

Q. How can customers check the status of their items?

A. Mighty Trader will send the customer an email as soon as their item goes live as an eBay auction. This email will include a link to their live eBay auction. The customer can then use this link to go to their item's auction and watch the progress of the bidding. When the auction closes the customer will receive an email to notify them of their auction's ending price and their expected proceeds.

Q. How long are the eBay auctions?

A. Depending on the selected service, seven to ten days.

Q. How long does the whole process take?

A. Items will be listed on eBay within 1 week. The eBay auction runs for seven to ten days (depending on selected service level). Customers will receive a check in approximately 2 weeks after Mighty Trader receives payment from the buyer.

Q. What if an item does not sell?

A. If an item doesn't sell (and only 10% of auctions don't sell), the customer can either choose to re-list, arrange for the item to be returned, or agree to have the item donated to a local charity. The prepayment will be retained to cover the eBay setup and listing fees.

Q. Why is there a required minimum $35 selling price for each item?

A. The processing costs involved are such that accepting items of a lesser value would result in customers receiving very little in return for their goods.

Q. Why do you recommend that auctions start at no more than $9.99 versus a stated minimum amount?

A. In our experience, selecting a starting price less than $10.00 (Mighty Basic Service, $9.99 prepay required; this amount will be credited to your account when your item sells) usually results in a higher final sale price because there will be more bidders. However, the customer can select a higher starting price by choosing the Mighty Premium Service ($19.99 prepay required; this amount will be credited to your account when your item sells) although the item may be less likely to sell.

Although we will strive for the highest sale price, Mighty Trader is legally required to accept the highest bid an item receives; we cannot return it to you if it sells for less than you think it's worth.

Q. What if an item sells below the $35 minimum estimated value?

On occasion, items will not perform to expectations, and eBay and Mighty Trader cannot guarantee any item's performance. Mighty Trader will commission all auctions at a minimum $19.99. It's in Mighty Trader's interest to see that each item has a chance to succeed, and we do everything we can to make this happen.

Q. Why can't larger items be sold through Mighty Trader?

A. Shipping & handling costs and time typically make selling larger items through eBay prohibitive. On very rare exceptions Mighty Trader will agree to sell an item that is "larger" than the allowable size. Auto Sales would be one such exception.

Q. Why does Mighty Trader accept some items and not others?

A. Due to eBay regulations and our own moral sensibilities, Mighty Trader will not sell sexually oriented materials, illegal weapons, counterfeit goods, items deemed by FedEx, UPS or USPS to be hazardous, or any other items outlined in eBay's prohibited items list. It is also worth noting that even though you can find just about anything on eBay, not everything on eBay sells for high prices. Mighty Trader works hard to identify items that will bring higher returns for our sellers. Additionally, considering shipping and handling costs implicit in most eBay transactions, Mighty Trader has focused on accepting and selling items that can be transported relatively inexpensively and safely.

Q. What happens if an item arrives broken at the Mighty Trader receiving center?

A. The customer will be notified upon receipt of item and informed of damages. Mighty Trader will work with the customer to coordinate the claim with the customer's original shipper. Mighty Trader stresses the necessity of packaging and shipping your item according to the practices required by the shipper of choice to meet their insurability requirements.

Q. How much does it cost to use Mighty Trader?

A. Unlike other online consignment services which often charge more than 40% or complicate the fees issue with varying fee levels, Mighty Trader's commission rate is a simple 32% of the item's final selling price.

Mighty Basic Service
  • $9.99 Prepay

  • Auction starts at no more than $9.99

  • A 7-day listing with no reserve

  • A "Gallery" photo to help your item stand out

  • Mighty Trader will collect 32% of sell price at auction end minus $9.99
Mighty Premium Service
  • $19.99 Prepay

  • You can select auction start prices

  • Option of setting a "Buy It Now" price

  • A 10-day listing with no reserve

  • A "Gallery" photo to help your item stand out

  • Mighty Trader will collect 32% of sell price at auction end minus $19.99
Mighty Trader sends the Seller a check for the profits of their auction minus the Mighty Trader commission within 14 days of collecting payment from buyer.

Mighty Trader reserves the right to waive Listing Fees for commercial Sellers and to negotiate Sales Fees for commercial Sellers and individual Seller's Goods valued over $1000[US], not to be less than 25%.
